Gotta have the Romance

For a while now, I’ve been noticing that whenever I try to read a Sci-Fi or Fantasy novel and it doesn’t have any subplot involving romance, I tend to get bored pretty quickly. What I end up doing? Put whatever book I’m reading down, go on my Kindle Unlimited, browse through the romance section, pick one with an interesting premise, and finish the book that same day. Sigh…It’s like a romance fix!

Anyway, even though I don’t have any specific writing goals in mind, I still want to start again. But, I’m having a hard time because I can’t decide what kind of story I want to write. My mind says Sci-Fi with elements of Fantasy and Romance. But my heart says Romance with elements of Fantasy or Sci-Fi. More sighs. I read books because I’m mainly after the romance subplot (or possibility thereof), so I find that I also have to emulate this model with writing because that’s the best way for me to find the motivation to write.
